Rethinking Drinking

The Armstrong Company Insurance Consultants would like to wish you and yours a healthy and prosperous New Year for 2015.  In doing so, we would also like to share a topic with you that we deem very important.

We are all aware of the dangers of drinking and driving.  There is a news story everyday regarding accidents caused by a drunk driver.  A horrific tragedy occurred in Redondo Beach, CA  just this Christmas season.  Alcohol can also be harmful to our health in general.  Most of us have someone close to us that we are concerned for their health due to excessive drinking.

Many of us enjoy a drink now and then, often when socializing with friends and family.  Drinking can be beneficial or harmful, depending on your age and health status, and, of course, how much you drink.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), a part of the National Institutes of Health has created a website specifically on the topic Rethinking Drinking.  The NIAAA is the lead U.S. agency supporting research on the causes, consequences, prevention, and treatment of alcohol-related problems.  The content of Rethinking Drinking draws largely from the results of major NIAAA population studies and clinical trials.

For anyone who drinks, the Rethinking Drinking Web site is a valuable source of research-based information.  Would you like to compare your drinking habits and see how they may be affecting your health?  Read more…..
